Physiologic Instruments (San Diego, CA USA)- Manufactors a Ussing Chamber that is made from acrylic plastic that are machined to the specifications of the experiment. Physiologic Instruments has three different types of chambers; P2250, P2300, & P2400 (reference information from www.physiologicinstruments.com).
The P2250 ussing chambers specifically designed for mounting intestinal tissues using an oblong aperture 5 x 22 mm to yield 1.0 cm2 tissue area. Tissues are mounted by pressing the tissue over short, curved pins lining a matching aperture on a slider (P/N P2252).Usable half chamber volume range is 2.0 - 8.0 ml.

The P2300 ussing chamber is our most versatile chamber in that it also directly accommodates sliders (holders) for a variety of animal tissues. Usable halfchamber volume is 2.0 - 8.0 ml.

The P2400 is a low volume ussing chamber system for used to study transport in tissues where the net quantity transported is low or the assay for the transported solute requires higher concentrations. This system, like the system for Snapwell culture inserts above, permits a variety of tissue sizes to be mounted in a low volume chamber.

The U9926 and U2500 Self-Contained Ussing chambers improve on the Classic design by bringing the solution reservoir into the chamber housing. This dramatically reduces the size of the apparatus and increases the ease-of-use of the system (reference information from www.warneronline.com).
The Self-Contained Ussing Chambers systems come in single- and dual-channel models and offer many advantages over the Classic design. The single-channel U9926 and dual-channel U2500. Both systems make use of inserts to secure and position the tissue or culture cup within the chamber body.

WPI's ussing chambers are machined from solid acrylic with eight entry ports for fluid lines, electrodes, or agar bridges. For easy, leak-free attachment of tubing and electrodes, all eight ports are luer type. The four ports for voltage and current electrodes are recessed to prevent formation of air bubbles in the chamber. The fluid compartments in each side of the chamber are separated by the epithelial membrane being studied. Sharp stainless steel pins on one side of the chamber hold the membrane in position and mate with holes in the opposite chamber interface (reference information from www.wpiinc.com).
